Austin, TX — Influencer and self-proclaimed “Liver King,” Brian Johnson, was arrested Tuesday evening in Austin on a terroristic threat charge after posting a heated Instagram video calling out podcaster Joe Rogan, according to local authorities and jail records.
The 47-year-old fitness personality—known for his primal diet of raw meats and organs—was booked into Travis County Jail on a Class B misdemeanor in connection with a viral video in which he challenged Rogan to a face-to-face fight while wearing tactical gear and pacing frantically. Surveillance footage shows Johnson being placed into handcuffs in front of a hotel, still donning the vest, while his wife watched.
In the footage, Johnson admits he has “no training in jiu-jitsu” but expects Rogan—no stranger to MMA—to dismantle him in an “honorable” contest. He urged Rogan to “stay ready,” saying: “Man to man, I’m picking a fight with you”. A second video captures Johnson slipping while ranting about the upcoming arrest, brandishing tools and mentioning Rogan’s show logo.
Johnson rose to fame promoting an “ancestral lifestyle,” but his credibility took a hit after leaked emails revealed he had spent over $11,000 per month on steroids—contradicting his claims of all-natural results. He also featured in Netflix’s Untold: The Liver King, which chronicled both his rise and steroid scandal.
As of now, the Austin Police Department has not confirmed the specific individual targeted by the threat. Johnson is being held without bond until a court hearing. Rogan has yet to comment on the incident, though their feud dates back to at least 2022 when Rogan called out Johnson’s physique claims.
